Very awesome, Family Guy episode featuring the cast of Star Trek: The Next Generation. I’ll admit, I was a huge fan back in middle school (but then again, I was also a huge fan of the Backstreet Boys at the same time). Stewie buying blueprints made me laugh uncontrollably, because I had some blueprints on my first laptop, a Macintosh that was about 3-inches thick and had a screen that only showed black and a really weird color mix of dark green and yellow (it also came with a printer that only took paper with perforated edges). I graduated in 2003, and by that time had all but forgotten my little foray in Trekkie-dom, until I finally saw the documentary Trekkies (and sequentially, Trekkies 2 the year after). Now I hold on to these 2 films as pre-requisites for the (hopefully soon) release of Fanboys, which features Seth Rogen in all his prosthetic glory, paying “homage” to these fine specimens of fandom and obsession.
I especially like the opening line of this Family Guy episode, in which Brian says, “Aw, the Annual Quahog Star Trek Convention, when once a year sci-fi buffs take their lips off a loaded gun and spend half a day adjusting their eyes to sunlight.”
So true. :) Happens to me all the time.
